The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is an ambitious project unseen in theme park history. Never before has an attraction had to stand up to the ever discerning eye of millions of teenagers. Scheduled to open in Spring 2010, this Harry Potter experience promises to pose challenge to theme parks worldwide. With recently released details, competitors are scurrying for hidden corners while Harry Potter fans rejoice.
Universal Studios becomes Hogsmeade
Harry and his friends had to wait a few years before they were allowed to visit the fog laden mysteries of Hogsmeade, the magical village that lay in the shadow of Hogwarts, but kids of all ages are welcome to walk its cobbled lanes. Grab a map and pass through the arched entrance and arrive at Hogsmeade Station amidst the whistle and steam of the Hogwart's Express. Head into Zonko's and buy a Sneakoscope. Siidle into Honeyduke's for some Chocolate Frogs or grab a sack of Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans. Just try and avoid the skunk spray and booger flavored ones.
Always wondered what Butterbeer and pumkin juice taste like? Pull up a chair at the Hog's Head Pub and dive into a pint or two. Hit the Three Broomsticks for some tasty wizardly grub. Give the little wizards a head start with a wand from Ollivander's, or check the latest mail at the Owlery. Get the newest Quidditch gear at Dervish and Banges or purchase some mystical naughtiness at Filch's Emporium of Confiscated Goods, just watch out for Mrs. Norris and her feline temper.
Enroll at Hogwarts at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL
Pass onward from Hogsmeade and the real fun begins. Jump on the Dragon's Challenge and battle not one, but two dragons, on this dual roller coaster. Master the dragons and lay claim to dominance in the Triwizard Tournament. Got little ones? Then the family fun of Flight of the Hippogriff is the choice for all magical families.
Finally, head up to Hogwart's Caste for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a magical journey through many aspects of Harry's amazing world. The winding corridors of Hogwart's Castle are an attraction themselves. Every corner has a surprise. Search for Dumbledore's Office, discover the science of alchemy or maybe, if the need is great, the Room of Requirement will reveal itself.
The wait may seem overlong, but before the next Quidditch Cup gets underway wands will be brandished, mystical words will be uttered and broomsticks will be mounted for the flight to Universal Studios Florida to experience a theme park attraction unlike any other.
