If you’re looking for a convenient base near Walt Disney World Resort, rather than in the park itself, consider the Sheraton Safari Hotel. Situated in Lake Buena Vista, just one mile from Downtown Disney, this African-themed hotel offers a free shuttle service to all the Disney parks. Rooms
The hotel offers three types of accommodation – guest rooms, Safari suites and executive suites. There is a choice of pool view or street view rooms; the early morning traffic can be a bit noisy, so for those looking for a lie-in, opt for a pool view room.
The 90 Safari suites are located in a separate building, offering a bedroom and separate sitting room with sleeper sofa, all the facilities of a standard guest room plus a microwave, mini-fridge and sink if you want to do a bit of self-catering.

In peak seasons the shuttle is very popular, so it’s a good idea to check with reception to see if the bus you want to catch is likely to be busy.
Wining and Dining
Casablanca’s Restaurant offers a buffet breakfast (younger children eat free when accompanied by an adult) and a la carte evening dining. Light lunches are available from the Monkey Bar pool bar, while the Zanzibar Watering Hole provides cocktails and snacks. Room service is also available. There are at least a dozen restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel, most offering buffet breakfasts to fuel you up for a full day of sightseeing.
The Sheraton Safari Hotel is a family-friendly, convenient base for those planning on “doing” Disney to the full. Some of the décor is a bit dated in places, but the lobby and public areas are impressive, and the staff are very helpful.
