Located across the Seven Seas Lagoon from the Magic Kingdom, Disney's Polynesian Resort is a tropical paradise in the world's best family theme park.
A stretch of sandy beach, landscaped and torch-lit walkways, and lagoon-style swimming pools are only a few of the things that make the Polynesian hotel a great spot for a family vacation. It also has clean, bright rooms, some of the friendliest staff in Walt Disney World, and it’s one of the three hotels located on the monorail line. What more could one ask for? Well, how about great dining, tons of activities for the kids, and best of all, a view of Cinderella’s castle and the nightly fireworks? Guests entering Disney’s Polynesian Resort might just forget that they’re in Orlando. The lush foliage, sparkling water, and casual atmosphere make it seem more like Fiji than central Florida. Atmosphere at Disney’s Polynesian ResortIf it weren’t for all the kids sporting Mickey Mouse ears, guests might actually forget they’re in Orlando. Bamboo, coconut palms, orchids, and other types of lush foliage surround the massive resort. The main lobby (known as the Great Ceremonial House) features a large “tropical rainforest”, complete with waterfalls and bird-life such as parrots, in its atrium. The building itself was designed after a Tahitian royal assembly lodge, and it contains most of the restaurants and shops. Rooms at the Polynesian HotelThe hotel is made up of several buildings, or longhouses, that are spread throughout the property and hold all the rooms. The rooms are a decent size, though not huge, and are very clean and bright. When staying in the Walt Disney World Resort, it’s unlikely that guests will be spending too much time in their rooms anyway (except when the little one’s need naps), so they are more than adequate. Paying a little extra to get a lagoon view is worth it for guests intending to be in the room when the nightly fireworks go off. Standing on the balcony and watching the fireworks from across the lagoon is a lovely treat, but for guests who will be in the park at that time, paying extra for the view isn’t really worth it. It’s also not uncommon for guests to be upgraded to a lagoon view upon arrival if the hotel isn’t booked, so think about whether or not the extra fee is worth it. Accessibility to the Magic KingdomIt doesn’t get any easier than this. The Polynesian resort is located on the monorail line and guests can get to the Magic Kingdom from the hotel in minutes. They will also get the pleasure of stopping at the Grand Floridian Resort, and the Contemporary Resort on the way (just in case they want to check them out). Other theme parks can be easily accessed by the very convenient shuttle system. Plenty of amenities are included such as cable TV, Internet access, laundry facilities, access to a health club and spa, and much more. As far as recreation goes there are two large swimming pools, three beaches, bike and watercraft rentals, and tons of activities for the kids. There are three restaurants in the resort that include dinner shows and character breakfasts. Check with the concierge for times, locations, and reservations. Disney's Polynesian Resort is a relaxing tropical paradise smack dab in the middle of the Walt Disney World Resort. It features lush vegetation, thatched roofs, koi ponds and white-sand beaches. The deluxe hotel offers guests a warm, welcoming world that celebrates the spirit of the South Pacific and ensures that a good time will be had by all.
