Florida Restaurants – Joseph's on the WaterReview – Affordable, Classy Gem in Hallandale-Hollywood
Beautiful and unpretentious atmosphere blended with superb service, professionally prepared food, and live musical accompaniment at an attractive price.
While cruising South Ocean Boulevard and taking in all of the usual sights – skyscraping condominiums and beautiful rows of beckoning palms, one would be well served to look into dining at Joseph's on the Water. Located at 1975 South Ocean Drive, Hallandale Beach, Florida – the restaurant offers a beautiful dining experience for locals and tourists alike who are looking for something a little different. Casual or Romantic Dining, Steak, Seafood, Chicken Entrees Most menu items available at Joseph's on the Water are extremely reasonable in price – oftentimes being subject to promotional prix fixe offerings that include a choice of appetizer, entree, and desert for the price of ~$18. The appetizers commonly range from red and white chowders to caesar and house salads, the entrees vary from steak to chicken and everything in between, and the deserts can be as simple and warming as apple pie or a slice of delectable cheesecake. With regards to appetizers, both the white chowder and the house caesar immediately spring to mind as standout recommendations. The white chowder is creamy and hearty – containing scallops and other seafood in a quality medley of ingredients. The caesar salad is well prepared with a house dressing that is crisp and tangy. A bevy of great entrees are present on the menu at Joseph's, however the New York Striploin and Chicken Parmesan are both excellent. The steak is prepared to order and grilled, a fine cut of meat for the price and offered alongside a baked potato. The tomato sauce and breading, the true secrets of any great Chicken Parmesan, are in this instance both unique in preparation and very tasty. Finally, to top the meal off one simply cannot go wrong with the house cheesecake, which is, frankly speaking, one of the best cheesecakes available at any dining establishment. All in all, the value of one's dollar for the quality of food being served at Joseph's is excellent and is recommended without reservation. Great Service, Classy Ambience, Atmosphere, and AfterthoughtsAn evening visit to Joseph's will certainly impress those looking for polite and friendly service – perhaps even being treated to a welcome from the proprietor himself, Mr. Joseph Maggi, and promptly seated. Serving staff are very friendly and prompt and seem very familiar with the menu offerings as well as being courteous and considerate to the needs of their patrons. All in all, the service is far above par and friendly without any pretense. The ambiance and atmosphere at Joseph's on the Water is very unique – featuring chandeliers made from captain's wheels and soft lighting through sateen fabric. The decor is very classic and inspires a somewhat vintage feel – certainly not a modern or art deco atmosphere and in this instance it reflects the warm personality of the restaurant perfectly. The dining experience at a whole is superb, and ranks among the best in the area. One would be hard pressed to find a more affordable restaurant offering the calibre of service and foods as prepared by the staff of Joseph's.
